If you’re reading this, I got the green light to shout it from the rooftops! Baby Rangira is here!
My sister Laura and her husband Leo didn’t find out beforehand whether they were having a boy or a girl, and didn’t reveal names — so we all squealed to get the phone call yesterday.
Mr. Nelson Thomas Rangira had arrived! All 8 pounds 4 ounces (and FULL head of black hair) of him.
Sure sure, I have nieces and nephews on Jeff’s side, but I married into the family after they were all born and grown and not snuggly anymore. Baby Nelson is my first nephew to hold as a baby, and he is snuggly and beautiful and amazing and perfect.
Welcome to the party, little guy.
With a few short phone calls Laura had my parents loading the car in San Antonio, and Colt, me, and Aunt Becky loading up in Fayetteville — all headed for Dallas. I joked with her it was as if she pulled a fire alarm, but that’s just a testament to the power of babies!
Becky and I are in a fierce battle for the title of Favorite Aunt, and Becky helpfully reminded me she has SEVEN YEARS of experience on me. I have a lot of catching up to do, but this little guy is worth it. It was such a pleasure to meet you, little Nelson. We have so many stories ahead of us — I can’t wait.
